The weekend past saw some top horses converge on the South African Turffontein racing centre. I typically avoid playing a pick 6 on these days because the winners usually come from a small pool of runners which duly happened until the last leg when a dog won. I had a number of dogs in that last leg in a pick 6 I put together for a client in 15 minutes. Despite the rough result in the last leg and the carryforward the pick 6 only paid R18 000.
I always talk about a playing edge. Too many top horses running? No edge. Carryforward? Edge. Too may top horses AND carryforward? No edge. No play. Next!
